CloudPlay delivers that, but be warned: It’s not without a (significant) price. For that truly smart home we’re all shooting for, with multiple cameras sending all of that data back and forth at all times of the day, we know it’s important to have a secure place for it to live. If you don’t already have local storage (a Micro SD card or your own self-monitoring) with your Ezviz cameras, you’ll want to buy a subscription for CloudPlay, Ezviz’s cloud storage network.įor what it’s worth, we’re seeing subscriptions almost across the board as an option for video storage. To subscribe or not to subscribe? That is the question, and we’re here to answer it once and for all: Yes. Motion detection live view CloudPlay Subscription Alarm Notificationsĭid we mention all the fun we’ve been having customizing our alarm notifications on this camera? Just one peek into the Settings menu on our C3N, and we knew we could truly make these cameras perform exactly the way we wanted them to. We quickly solved this problem by positioning our camera a little farther to the left, and all was well again. We know, from our previous tests of dozens of other security cameras, that this is a no-no, for one key reason: It could cause the light sensor to malfunction, meaning we could miss important motion. Oops! So this is something to keep in mind. We realized that we had positioned our camera so that the light was directly in front of our view. Rather than the standard infrared night vision we’re accustomed to, this one’s got color night vision – and we were keen to test it out.Īnd we’ll say this: When night fell after our first day testing this camera, we were met with a pretty all-consuming halo effect from one of our light fixtures. Night Visionīefore we even opened the box, we knew our Ezviz C3N was equipped with some serious night vision technology. Though YI is a relative newcomer to the game, they’ve got some neat cameras meant for subtle setups. In our experience, cameras like this have an intimidating presence that’s meant to deter criminals, or at least give them a reason to think twice.įYI: If you’re looking for security with reliable technology but a more discreet look, head over to our hands-on analysis of the YI security camera. What does stand out with the C3N, though, is how tough it looks on the outside. While this is a helpful asset in any security setup, most outdoor cameras in the biz these days have some degree of weather protection, so Ezviz isn’t necessarily bringing anything new to the table. Either way, we think the C3N will be able to withstand just about any weather condition. Or maybe you deal with extreme heat in the southwest (we know… it’s a dry heat). We believe that’s weather-speak for ”this thing can handle anything.” Maybe you live in the northwest and get hit with those Arctic blasts. Mother Nature is no match for this camera! The hefty C3N is made to withstand weather, with an IP67 dust and water rating 3. You can buy them separately, and some retailers even offer 2-in-1 packages for pretty cheap, but we thought it was worth a warning. This is great, but it’s important to note that Ezviz does not include the cards with the cameras themselves. Pro Tip: Our Ezviz cameras both came with slots for Micro SD cards. As with so many security cameras these days, you tend to get what you pay for. What we will say, though, is that not too many other cameras can stack up to Ezviz in both price point and advanced features. Nest cameras, you’ll note, are pricier than our Ezviz, starting at $199 for the indoor Google Nest IQ. facial recognition, literally reading our faces to learn who’s familiar and who’s not. These are, after all, relatively inexpensive cameras while Ezviz’s motion detection technology handles exceptionally well, it doesn’t perform at the level we’ve seen in Google Nest Cams, which have leapt boldly into A.I. We don’t know too many humans with four legs. If an animal passes through the view, the camera thinks it, too, is a human. Sounds cool, right? Right, but with a note of caution: While our camera does tell us when the motion detected is the human kind, it just kind of ends there. Our Ezviz cameras boast AI person detection. It’s a lot smoother than the motion zoning experience we had when we unboxed Ring’s Stick Up Cam: You can tap on the screen to block out zones in Ring’s app, but you can’t get as precise without a grid like Ezviz has. We have to say, we really like this grid style. The first English-language version of a Ghibli film that was made under the new guidelines was Princess Mononoke. Guidelines were established and made contractual. The discussions included the participation of lawyers. Heated discussions took place on how the translations of Ghibli’s films would be made. Alpert, Seiji Okuda, Toshio Suzuki, Hayao Miyazaki, Haruyo Moriyoshi Photo: Stonebridge Press And they made the kind of translation mistakes that review by a native speaker would have corrected. They changed names to make them sound more American. They added plot points to fill out storylines they found unclear. They filled silences with dialogue that wasn’t in the original script. To Disney, translation meant an opportunity to change all of the things that they didn’t think would appeal to a commercial audience in America. One problem we hadn’t anticipated was that Disney would use the translations to “correct” perceived problems with the films themselves. But what about the things Japanese people say that nobody else says and that there just aren’t equivalents for in other languages? Or the Japanese words that even Japanese people have trouble defining that Hayao Miyazaki likes to use in the titles of his films?ĭisney was our distributor in the U.S. That’s doable, though native speakers don’t all agree on what sounds natural. Beyond that, you want the translated dialogue to sound natural to a native speaker who doesn’t know Japanese. But then the question arises, what exactly is a proper translation?Īt a minimum of course you want to avoid outright mistakes. Also, the language in the scripts of Ghibli’s films has the kind of depths of meaning and artistic beauty that deserve a proper translation. Seeing it done right was a matter of personal pride. I have an academic background and always wanted to be a translator (of poetry and novels). I was determined that the translations of the films of Studio Ghibli would be done properly. They are far more tolerant of linguistic errors than a native speaker would be. Another problem is that Japanese people love English and are too comfortable with their version of it. The main problem in the film industry is that no one checks the translations. Books have been written illustrating the biggest bloopers. In this excerpt from the book, he writes about the challenges of translation, and the hurdles that author Neil Gaiman faced while writing the English-language screenplay for Princess Mononoke. In his new memoir, Sharing a House with the Never-Ending Man: 15 Years at Studio Ghibli, Alpert details his experiences working with Miyazaki, dealing with Hollywood executives (including the notorious Harvey Weinstein), and bridging his own cultural gaps in order to properly preserve the films. Working closely with founders Hayao Miyazaki, Toshio Suzuki, and Yasuyoshi Tokuma, the “resident foreigner” played a key role in making the studio a known entity around the globe. In 1996, Studio Ghibli and its parent company Tokuma Shoten hired an American, Steve Alpert, as the head of the animation company’s international division. For more, head to our Studio Ghibli guide page. To celebrate the arrival of Studio Ghibli’s library on digital and streaming services, we’ve surveyed the studio’s history, impact, and biggest themes. Maybe he needs this role, to show another side of himself. I like Don Cheadle, but he seems a little too old for this role, and he's just way too serious of an actor. Mos Def is probably one of the best rapper turned actors that most people have never heard of. What do you think of this? Will Don Cheadle be able to fill Terrence Howard's shoes and eventually lead a War Machine spin-off? I don't want to introduce War Machine too early for my own monetary benefits."Īll I can say right now is that I'm very weary of this switch. I'd prefer to let it grow a little bit and then after the third one, they could go into its own franchise of War Machine later on. I would prefer to wait for the third one. Either way, I'm not that excited for this change, especially because I really loved Terrence Howard as Rhodes in Iron Man.įans will certainly remember that scene near the end when Rhodes looks at the Mark II armor in Tony Stark's lab and mutters "next time." Interestingly, Howard made a revealing statement back in May regarding War Machine: "The question is whether we will take the time to put on the Iron Man suit first and then have to fight with Iron Man to take it off me and then ultimately build a new suit for Rhodey or whether they go right into the second one of them building the suit. This might just mean they're leaning towards the idea of the War Machine spin-off down the line. But Cheadle on the other hand definitely has, although I don't think that necessarily makes him any more qualified. Interesting observation, however, is that Howard has never actually had a major leading role in any film (give or take Hustle & Flow). Except Cheadle doesn't seem like as smooth as a transition, especially when I was a huge fan of Howard and couldn't wait to see his version of War Machine. This sounds similar to what happened with Rachel Dawes' replacement in The Dark Knight. Might that other direction eventually be a War Machine spin-off? Rhodes is expected to play a larger part in the sequel, which is rumored to "go beyond high-tech villains." Huh? There are some rather intriguing statements being made about Iron Man 2 tonight. Apparently Howard decided not to return due to "financial differences, among other reasons." Marvel then decided to take the role in another direction and approached Don Cheadle. Don Cheadle will step in to replace him in the upcoming Iron Man 2 which is currently in pre-production. James Rhodes in Iron Man earlier this summer, has decided not to reprise the role for the sequel. Thanks for watching CBR Saga! Let’s get started.Very interesting bit of news today! Terrence Howard, who played Col. While you’re there, be sure to hit that big like and subscribe button for more awesome MCU content like this. So go ahead and check out our Rhodey discussion and let us know in the comments whether you think he could be the next Iron Man. All in all, the future's looking bright for one of the most underdeveloped characters in the MCU right now! If that’s the case, then she can even factor into the upcoming Armor Wars TV show as well. But is that too much of a rehash of what we’ve seen before? Could something happen that has Rhodey turn against the government and be his own independent hero? It’s possible! We’ll also talk about how Rhodey could be Iron Heart’s mentor in the MCU which would make perfect sense given that Riri Williams needs a mentor like Iron Man to show her the ropes. The world needs a new Iron Man and it might be time for Rhodey to step up and take his place.īut just how exactly will that work? Well, that’s what today’s CBR Saga is all about! We’ll discuss in-depth how Rhodey can pull a similar move to US Agent in Falcon and the Winter Soldier and basically be the government’s new version of Iron Man. Well, that could change now that Tony Stark is no longer in the picture. If Rhodey disappeared from the MCU forever, would you really notice? He’s been a character who has been around since the very beginning and yet he’s never really gotten his chance to shine and take center stage. “As notebook computers quickly become the form factor of choice for consumers, Logitech continues to deliver high-quality, affordable notebook webcams that help people make reliable video calls,” said Gina Clark, vice president of product marketing for Logitech’s Internet Communications business unit. So many of the Insomniac team are such huge fans of the character, and one of the key elements that drew us to him is surprisingly not that different from Spider-Man: Both heroes feel deeply compelled to defend people who are less able to do so. Fast-forward a couple years and we’re suddenly standing in front of Sony Interactive Entertainment and Marvel formally pitching a PlayStation 5 game starring the adamantium-clawed Mutant! (Since you just saw the announce teaser, we can confirm that the pitch seemed to go pretty well.) And even in those early discussions, Wolverine continually came up as the character we’d be really stoked to work on together. Back when we were working on Marvel’s Spider-Man, there would be times where all of us-Insomniac, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Marvel-would brainstorm together about the future beyond the web-slinger. Now let’s talk about the announcement you probably weren’t expecting: Marvel’s Wolverine. We’ve been fortunate to work with so many incredibly talented actors in our Spider-Man games, and Tony has been such a wonderful addition to the cast. And speaking of villains, did you catch that final line at the end of the trailer? We’re so happy to announce that Tony Todd (of Candyman fame) will be voicing the symbiote-fueled Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We’re also delighted to welcome back Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter, who will reprise their roles as Peter and Miles respectively. Today’s game footage trailer is merely just a glimpse at what’s in store in terms of the new abilities our heroes will acquire, suits they will wear (more on that some other time), and the villains that will try to hunt them down. Much of the development team that brought you Marvel’s Spider-Man is returning to produce Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, including Bryan Intihar (creative director) and Ryan Smith (game director). Just as in our previous Spider-Man games, we not only want to tell a great Super Hero story, but also deliver a compelling human story, one full of heart and humor that dives deep into the people behind the mask. While pushing the capabilities of the console will be very exciting, we’re equally pumped to craft all-new stories for Peter and Miles in this sequel. We’re so thrilled to continue the journey of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their most epic single-player adventure yet, coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 consoles in 2023. Let’s start with the one most of you probably could’ve guessed: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. And what’s so exciting is that our collaboration isn’t ending anytime soon, as today we revealed not one-but TWO-new Marvel titles coming from Insomniac Games: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine. Learning from and sharing with these true believers as we created games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been a career highlight for many of us. That approach even applies when we work with those outside our studio, as it’s been such a pleasure to collaborate with Marvel Games. For the purpose of demonstration, I choose the following 3 models (which I will keep constant for the creation of the ensembles, but this is not necessary). We are interested in doing it a bit more verbose. There’s an auto-classifier node that chooses the best set from those available and ensembles the results automatically. With the choice of 16 different machine learning models that handle binary classification, it may be hard choose which one to use. Of course, I could have generated more data and more variables, but that would not have enhanced the demonstration of ensembles. All with all, this is fairly realistic data for a small learning problem. The binary target is unbalanced (5.4% in the True category). There is a varying amount of missing data across the predictors. The data shows 13 mixed measurement level predictors with the continuous data being non-normal and skewed. Figure 2 shows how this is achieved in Modeler (read the documentation of the stream) and Figure 3 shows (part of) the data audit output. The first step after getting data is looking at it. The purpose for this is that I can generate new data from the ‘population’ at will, and so I can always generate another validation set. This is also done in Modeler, and the details can be found in the appendix. I simulated data with a data generation scheme to create a data set with interesting high order interactions. An end-node can be executed, upon which the data flows through the nodes, from start to end, being transformed along the way by the operations of the nodes. Modeler has a canvas, in which nodes are placed. The interface of Modeler with the completed blended/stacked model is shown on top of the post. Peeking ahead, I will end up with a combination of about 127 models, which score in 7ms (non-optimized, on a single 8-core virtual machine) when creating a scoring web service around it (again, without a single line of coding). It is often heard that monstrous ensembles are only good for winning Kaggle, but in practice, they never make it to production. Blending or stacking refers to the method(s) where models take the predicted values of other models as predictors. In this document, I will demonstrate the ability to build blending/stacking models. This is mainly archived by the orchestration based interface and the ability of document each step of the process in the tool itself. One of the features of the tool is the ability to build complex pipelines while keeping it entirely transparent what is being done. The tool provides access to advanced models as Random Forest, Support Vector Machines and Neural Nets without a single line of coding, and without losing flexibility or insight in the models. IBM SPSS Modeler (or short: Modeler) is an orchestration based data mining workbench with ETL capabilities. (Take a set by Robbie Hart, add a topical shirt, and voilá: a new soundtrack is born.) To those who can't get enough of '80s hits like Bryan Ferry's "Slave to Love" and the Cars' "Drive," setting them to a island beat will likely seem whimsical, charming, and perfect for barbecue weather. It's also a fitting follow-up to that other Sandler/Barrymore vehicle, The Wedding Singer. In that sense, the 50 First Dates soundtrack is a good accompaniment to a fluffy romantic comedy in which one of the main characters is perpetually living in the past. The Cure and a reggae beat certainly make strange bedfellows as, one assumes, do Adam Sandler and a girl with no short-term memory. From Wyclef & Eve covering The Outfield's "Your Love" and UB40 with The Police's "Every Breath You Take" to Jason Mraz with Modern English's "I Melt With You," and Seal on Echo and the Bunnymen's "Lips Like Sugar," 50 First Dates is the ultimate musical first date. Now imagine today's top artists recording new versions of classic '80s love songs in reggae style. That's the Adam Sandler Drew Barrymore romantic comedy 50 First Dates. Imagine having to win over the girl of your dreams. |
